The strength of C.R.Lewis' art is his recapitulation of the early California landscape painters such as Julian Red.

What makes C. R. Lewis' paintings stand out is that he has taken a traditional format and filled it with something unexpected, something that occurs naturally in nature, but which he has captured in a way that people simply don't expect to see in a painting. His paintings are both atmospherically alive and impossibly rich. They are incredible.
